As far as my fancy resume info, here you go!
I’m a writer and blogger with an MFA from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where I taught college-level composition and was mentored by successful traditionally published authors. Though originally I planned to publish traditionally and had agented works make it all the way to New York, when my book didn’t get picked up, I changed genres and moved to the indie route (at least for now).
I’ve self-published over twenty books under two pen names (Emma St. Clair and Sullivan Gray), and went from making $30/month to making solid four figures by my third book and now am consistently making five figures (net profit) with my fiction books alone.
I have been blogging for almost ten years, have run the Create If Writing podcast for six years, taught a number of workshops and courses, and spoken at dozens of conferences and events on publishing, writing, social media, email lists, and blogging. I’m often quoted by Jane Friedman in her paid publication on the publishing industry, The Hot Sheet, and my podcast has been named one of Writer’s Digest’s best podcasts for authors for years running.
I don’t just KNOW my stuff, I LIVE my stuff, and I love working with other authors to help them do the same.
